Overview
The Department of Pharmacy of Wuxi No.2 People’s Hospital(Jiangnan University Medical Center) is a key specialty department in Wuxi. It currently employs 91 pharmacy professionals, including 6 chief pharmacists and 10 deputy chief pharmacists. Among them, 2 hold doctoral degrees, 89 hold bachelor’s degrees or higher, 14 are clinical pharmacists, and 3 are specialty pharmacists. The Department of Pharmacy comprises the Outpatient and Emergency Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medicine Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy (including the Surgical and Anesthesia Pharmacy), Intravenous Medication Compounding Center, Clinical Pharmacy Office, and Pharmaceutical Warehouse. It is responsible for the hospital-wide supply, dispensing, and compounding of medications, as well as clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical affairs management. The hospital implements closed-loop management of all medications from receipt into the warehouse through to clinical use. The department is equipped with automated devices such as imported fully automatic drug repackaging machines, domestically advanced IV labeling machines, finished IV product sorters, and medication dispensing robots. Clinical pharmacists participate in hospital-wide consultations, discussions of complex and critical cases, and the collection, analysis, and reporting of adverse drug reactions. The department operates specialized outpatient clinics, including a cough and asthma pharmacy clinic and a medication consultation clinic. It currently serves as a training base for the National Shortage Talent Program for pharmacists.
Research achievements
The Department of Pharmacy has been awarded designations such as “National Model Base for Rational Drug Use,” “National Sentinel Hospital for Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring,” and “Standardized Outpatient Clinic for Cough and Asthma Medications,” and is a member of the “Jiangsu Provincial Pharmacists’ Antithrombotic Alliance.” The department has achieved outstanding results in numerous provincial and municipal competitions. The department received the Third Prize in the “Summer Cube Cup—Jiangsu Exhibition of Public Education Works on Rational Drug Use” organized by the China Pharmaceutical Education Association; the Second Prize in the Jiangsu Regional Competition of the 7th MKM China Pharmacist Professional Skills Competition; the First Prize in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Zhenjiang Sub-regional Competition of the “Jiangsu Provincial Public Education Speech Contest on Hypertension” hosted by the Jiangsu Pharmaceutical Society; the Second Prize in the Provincial Competition of the “Bringing Pharmaceutical Health to Every Household” campaign; and an Excellence Award in the Jiangsu Provincial Public Education Speech Contest on Digestive System Diseases.
