Overview
The Department of Radiology at Wuxi No.2 People’s Hospital ( Jiangnan University Medical Center) a Key Clinical Medical Specialty of Jiangsu Province, one of the first national standardized residency training bases, and a master’s training site for Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at Jiangnan University. With a century-long history, the department was founded as the Puren X-ray Room in 1918, and formally established as the Radiology Department of Wuxi No.2 People’s Hospital in 1951. It pioneered cholecystography, intravenous urography, myelography and hysterosalpingography in Jiangsu Province.
The CT room was set up in 1986, equipped with the first whole-body CT scanner in Jiangsu Province, and the Imaging Building was constructed in the same year. The department was renamed the Imaging Department in 1994, and the Medical Imaging Center was founded in 2009. It has now developed into a modern comprehensive department integrating X-ray, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Radiology.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging devices across the North and South campuses:

8 spiral CT scanners (16-slice and above)
4 DSA machines
1 SPECT/CT scanner
1 dual-energy bone densitometer
2 digital gastrointestinal machines
1 digital mammography machine
4 mobile DR units

Comprehensive diagnostic imaging for all body systems
Non-invasive CT and MR angiography
Imaging-guided needle biopsy (CT, DSA)
72-hour appointment commitment for contrast-enhanced CT and MRI
Functional MRI including brain fMRI, DTI and SWI
Green imaging channels for stroke and chest pain
Endovascular interventional therapy for tumors and non-tumor lesions
Non-vascular interventions: radioactive seed implantation and ablation for malignant tumors

Research achievements
The hospital has established a technical cooperation center with Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, where experts provide online and on-site consultation for complex and rare diseases. The department is also a cooperation base of Huashan Hospital, a member of the Imaging Alliance of Nanjing Medical University and Zhongda Hospital, and a partner of the Imaging Research Institute of Soochow University.
The annual examination volume exceeds 700,000. The department provides full-spectrum imaging services with diagnostic and interventional levels among the top in Jiangsu Province.
